2½ Years!

It is hard to believe that Tyler is 2½ years old already!
We went for his checkup this past Wednesday and my, oh my, he is getting big!

Enjoy this video of Tyler singing to his own tune.
Tyler's most recent stats:
  • 38 inches tall (92nd percentile)
  • 38 pounds (98th percentile)
  • Head circumference: 20.6 inches (97th percentile)
Other updates:
  • Tyler still loves to learn - he has had his alphabet down for quite some time now (since 18 months) and knows how to count to 29 as well as 10, 20, 30, etc. but struggles counting individually after 29 (weird, I know).  He knows his colors.  He also knows what sounds all of the letter make and can often answer a question such as "What letter does ball start with?" Jeff jokes that we are going to start working on decimals with him next week.
  • Tyler memorizes books with remarkable speed and ease.  After reading a book 3-4 times he often catches on enough to be able to "read" large excerpts, if not the whole thing, back to us.
  • Potty training is not as glowing of a review.  Tyler will tell us "I wet" meaning he went pee.  The other potty statement we get is "I gross" or "I pee ewe" meaning he went poop.  Sounds great, eh?  Well, we are not to the point where he tells us before the potty occurs.   We are working on ideas - I will keep you updated.  Suggestions are welcome!  Hopefully he can figure this important life lesson sooner rather than later.
  • Big brother update:  Tyler has been a pretty good big brother.  He has had a few jealous moments when he simply needs a hug and a bit of love/attention.  He gets the most jealous of his Grandma (my mom) time.   He is used to having Grandma all to himself so sharing Grandma with Nathan has been the biggest adjustment.  Tyler does show concern for Nathan when he cries and is so sweet about saying good morning and good night to him.  During the day, he ignores him for the most part and plays with his toys.
It is hard to believe that it has been two and a half years yet at the same time it is often hard to remember our lives before Tyler.  We love you T!

  1. He is such a big & smart boy =) Owen has no interest in numbers or letters.... so I am sure that we won't be on par with Tyler by 18 months =)
