Week 3

Week 3 Photos and Update

Nathan is getting bigger and bigger but that head is still heavy. :)

A little weeble wobble and he falls down.

Giving a little kick!  He is getting so long!

I love this sweet face.

  • Umbilical cord fell off this week - Monday (4/2).
  • I left Nathan (and Tyler) for the first time since Nathan has been born as we enjoyed our March date night on Saturday with good friends, Dan and Kate Busch.  Jeff and I made a resolution this year to have date night (no kids) at least once a month.  It has been wonderful even though the past two months we have waited until the very last day of the month to make it happen.  Thanks to my mom for watching both boys for a few hours while we had a great dinner at American Bounty.  Also, thanks to Dan and Kate for joining us for dinner and adult conversation! :)
  • Date night also meant Nathan had his first bottle (still breast milk).  He took to it like a champ with no problem!
  • Nathan's awake/alert times are growing longer - luckily these have still been during the day still! :)
  • Baby acne has hit Nathan the last few days, but seems to be getting better.  I have to remember it doesn't bother him.  Tyler had the same thing for a bit.
  • All in all, life is wonderful with a 2 and a half year old and a 3 week old!  We are so lucky!

Easter Egg Dyeing

On Good Friday, Great Aunt Patty came over for what is becoming our egg dyeing tradition.
Tyler was much more into it this year and Aunt Patty's idea to put the eggs in whisks was brilliant!

Tyler loved to "mix" the eggs with the colors.  That does NOT mean putting the eggs into different colors - he was very particular if an egg was in the green it stayed in the green.  Tyler knows his colors and took it very seriously.

He liked to check the eggs often.

While the eggs were soaking up color - he would constantly ask "what's next?"

Nathan joined us in the kitchen via the bouncer and just chilled.

I can only imagine how particular Tyler will be about his egg dyeing next year...

Easter Egg Hunt #1

This past Saturday the City Parks Department hosted an Easter Egg hunt.  It was the perfect opportunity to get out of the house and let Tyler run off some energy.  We didn't get to burn off too much energy as the hunt only took about 10 minutes.
Ready to hunt!  So handsome!
Grandma joined us on the hunt.  Thanks, Grandma!

Checking out his loot!
Most of the kids were terrified of the Easter Bunny...but not Tyler.  He followed the poor Easter Bunny everywhere after the hunt.  This is the most cooperative photo I got.  Thanks, Tyler!
This is what Nathan thought of the hunt.

Loving Spring!

The weather last week and early this week has been pretty nice so we have enjoyed playing outside!

Tyler loves to swing!
He is getting a bit big for his Little Tikes swing but he doesn't seem to mind.

Tyler loves his new play house too and I think we will spend plenty of hours in the back yard this summer. Daddy also built him a sandbox the week after Nathan was born.  Unfortunately, Tyler thinks it is cool to dump the sand over his head.  Ugh - we will have to stop that practice!

The doorbell works and is one of his favorite parts.  As you can see, he was mowing his lawn too.

The window to the attached picnic table is the perfect way to get out of his house.  Use the door?  Why when you can climb out the window...boys!

Meeting Haley Jane!

Just three days after Nathan was born our friends, the Wehmeyers, welcomed their first child - a baby girl, Haley Jane, into the world.  We were able to introduce the two recently.

Haley just chilling on my lap.  So sweet!

Only three days apart!

Nathan started crying (hungry - surprise, surprise!) and Haley followed suit promptly.

Week Two

I am a bit behind as Nathan turned two weeks last Friday (3/30)...bear with me as I try to keep up with these blog posts. :)

He is still sleeping a LOT!  Growing boy!

Nathan was not too happy to have his photo taken Friday afternoon.
He is ready for Cardinal baseball to start though!

Stretching those long, skinny legs out!

Much happier when he is naked (except for sponge bath time)!

  •  Nathan is already in Size 1 diapers.  I didn't even purchase any newborn diapers - we were prepared with over 400 Size 1.
  • He is still sleeping pretty well at night, waking only 1-2 times to feed and going right back to sleep. (Knock on wood.)
  • His longest intervals between feedings at night has been 6 hours!  Average is still 4-5 hours at night.  During the day, he eats a bit more frequently and that is okay with me.  We have to plan on him to get his fill during the day so we can eventually sleep through the night!
  • I have had to have a new strategy of changing his diaper half way through nursing to keep the little man awake.  I am not simply a human pacifier!  It seems to be working.

Visitors!

Nathan (and Tyler) have had lots of visitors the past two weeks and we love it!  We attempted to keep a photo "guestbook" but didn't do a very good job.  We pretty much took over the guest check-in list for the three days we were in the hospital.  The visitors have continued since we have been home too!

Grandma and Grandpa were the first to arrive!
Grandma had Tyler too as we wanted Tyler to meet his brother first.

Uncle Kyle and Aunt Maggie arrived next.
They look pretty natural, right?!  We are excited to welcome a new cousin, Baby Zick, in September!

Cousin Abbey loved holding Nathan.

Great Uncle Frank and Aunt Kelly also came to visit Nathan Friday night.

Saturday, Kate, Dan and Clay Busch came to visit.
Clay was a bit jealous of his mommy holding Nathan.

Clay is such a cutie!

Great-Grandma and Grandpa Zick came to visit!

The Davis' came to visit too and Carter loved holding Nathan.
Carter was concerned because his buddy Tyler was not around.

Jay and Sarah got their baby fix in too!  I am not sure why I don't have a photo of Sarah.  Sorry, Sarah!  Come over soon and we will get a photo! :)

Aunt Patty has been over to visit - both at the hospital and at home.

Julie and Ross spent a Saturday at our house visiting with Nathan and the rest of the fam - we had a full house this afternoon! :)  They look pretty natural, don't they?

Other visitors included: Grandma and Grandpa Francis (Jeff's parents), Aunt Jenny and Uncle Ryan, Uncle Greg, Great Grandma and Grandpa Wood,  Great Aunt Sandy and Great Uncle Bob, Cousins Krista and Anna, Great Aunt Susan, Cousin Zach, Great Uncle Mike and Great Aunt Jeanne (thanks again for the photos!), Great, Great Aunt Nancy.

We are so blessed to have so many loved one!  Thanks so much!

First Photo Shoot

This post is very much delayed...
We are so lucky to have Jeanne who graciously came to the hospital after Nathan was born for his first photo shoot!  I love, love, love these photos!

This is my absolute favorite!  Our precious boys!

Kisses!

Love his peaceful smile...and the multiple chins. :)

So sweet!

Kisses from Mommy.

The nursing staff was the best making Nathan a personalized name card for his crib!

Then, of course, Tyler was performing during Nathan's photo shoot so Jeanne was able to snap some photos of my singing man.  I will have to post a video of one of his "performances."
He gets really into it!

He cracks us up! :)

Crib Comparison

Nathan in the crib.  Swaddled, sleeping...

Tyler in the crib - not swaddled, screaming...
